Chasing Sunsets

Sunday, October 16th, 2016

Everyone who knows me knows that I’m a sucker for sunsets. All of them. Whenever I can chase one, I will. I took my first little road trip down to San Diego this weekend after months of battling health issues. It was so good to get away.

I found my way to Sunset Cliffs in San Diego and waited for the sunset. I noticed a lot of couples showing up to do the same. I even witnessed one gentleman get down on one knee and propose. I missed him down on his knee but I caught their embrace when she said yes. It’s not stalking, it’s people watching!

I decided to try to find them to get the picture to them and, thanks to the power of social media, I found them! Happy Ending.❤️

Déjà Vu

This photo shoot was a very special one to me because these munchkins were the first kiddos I shot when I began shooting children that weren’t my own. I didn’t have to chase them like I did the last time, they were ready! We shot in Manhattan Beach again, just like last time and had a blast!

I’m Chilean so I know nothing about Quinceañeras except that those things are like weddings. If you don’t know what a quinceañera is, a simple google search ought to do it. When Maria José told me she didn’t want a quince but just some pictures on her birthday and memories with friends, I thought, what a great way to celebrate your birthday without the chaos. I want to wish her a happy birthday and share some of the images that she can look back on for years to come. Oh, to be 15 again….

I’m old enough to not remember what the heck a “promposal” is. If you haven’t heard, they’re a thing. A major thing. It’s like a proposal, but for prom. So.Much.Pressure.

I was at the beach today doing a completely different shoot, when out of the corner of my eye, I noticed this sweet, young man hiding behind one of the pier pillars holding some sunflowers. I love sunflowers, I think that’s what caught my attention. Then I noticed he had some friends holding some letters, so I had to ask. “What the heck is going on here?!!” I think that’s along the lines of what I said and he proceeded to tell me that it was a promposal. A PROMPOSAL?!! I asked myself in my head but didn’t want to seem uncool so I smiled and nodded like I understood.

I finally pieced it together and asked him if I could get pictures of it. Green light. So we waited. And waited some more. Then she finally arrived, but went in a different direction from what we were expecting so I had to do some mild aerobic exercise in the sand and walk very fast to catch up. I caught my breath and it was show time! I’ve never witnessed a promposal before so it was exciting. AND SHE SAID YES!!! Then I went back to my photo shoot.

Eduardo was kind enough to let me share these pics with you guys. Have fun at prom!

California Christmas

Tuesday, December 16th, 2014

Only in California can you take your Christmas card pictures on the beach, barefoot. Be jealous! Meet my friend Diana and the boys in her life. Merry Christmas!
