My Love Affair Continues

Thursday, December 1st, 2011

It’s December 1st and Winter is right around the corner. The trees are in a hurry to lose their leaves and the wind in Southern California today is definitely not helping.

My husband hates the mess the leaves make in the fall while my love affair with it continues. I tell him I will rake up the mess as long as I can watch them pile up in the front yard for a little bit. I don’t know what it is but there’s something about the the leaves floating down as they fall from the trees that captures my heart.

The route I take to my daughter’s school is along a beautifully tree lined street. Every morning the city is out there cleaning up the leaves and every morning it looks exactly the same way it did before they began… too bad for them… great for me. Happy Thursday!

Fall 2011

Monday, October 24th, 2011

Hello! Yes, I know. It’s been an eternity since my last post and I do apologize. I’ll spare you the details and go straight to this post.

I think fall is my favorite season. I say I think because I enjoy every season in southern California but there is something about fall that captures my heart. I love the way that leaves change colors and sprinkle the ground with different shades of reds and oranges. It’s the reason I chose to marry in the fall as well. (Stay with me) Ever since I saw Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves in 1991 it changed the way I look at fall. I don’t remember the movie at all except for the end, the wedding scene that takes place in the forrest underneath the great trees with leaves falling all around. That scene made such an impact on me that I vowed to get married outdoors in the fall…. and I did.

Ok, back to fall 2011. We’ve been trying to familiarize ourselves with our new location so we ventured out to a pumpkin patch in Redlands, CA. My neighbor told me about this great place, Live Oak Canyon Christmas Tree Farm. Awesome doesn’t even begin to describe this place. It’s 45 acres of beauty where they farm christmas trees and pumpkins. I was expecting to go to this field with some pumpkins but it’s not at all what I expected. They have taken the fall experience to a whole different level. There are games, bounce thingies :D , a huge corn maze. Go carts for the little ones face painting and tons of yummy treats to snack on while you’re looking for the perfect pumpkin or tree. If you are from this area or close enough for a quick road trip I absolutely suggest you make the trip. You will not regret it. Click here to see a few more pictures of our day. Happy Monday!
