Christmas Eve

Tuesday, December 27th, 2011

We spent Christmas Eve at my sister-in-law’s house and had a blast. She is much better than I am at getting into the spirit of the holidays when it comes to decorating. She has these great little ornaments on the tree and the theme baked goods were to die for. After a great time it was nice to look back and say goodbye to L.A. Hope you had a great time as well.

Welcome Home

Thursday, December 22nd, 2011

I’m not much of a dog person, I like dogs I just don’t like to have them as pets. I don’t know what changed, we had dogs ever since I was little but somewhere along the way I decided that having myself to look after was enough. My husband and girls, on the other hand, are what I like to call dog whisperers. We have been dog boarding for the last 6 years and just when I thought my house was finally going to be free of dog hair, the husband decides it’s time for one more.

He called me the other day and said he was coming home with a surprise…. and SURPRISE it was…. I think this one is staying. Allow me to introduce you to Lulu, welcome home girl.

Lulu is still a little uncertain around the little one and I don’t blame her. She loves her so much but wants to hold her a little too tight. So until she’s a little more gentle she has good ‘ole Bandit to play with and take for walks :D

Finally!

I have always wanted a Christmas wreath on my door. Ever since I came to the U.S. a Christmas wreath just seemed like the American thing to do once you had a house. Because of the ugly ghetto fabulous security door we had at our last house for the last 6 years having a wreath was impossible. This is our first Christmas in this house and I kid you not, I stop and admire my wreath every single time I walk in the door. I LOVE IT! It makes me feel accomplished for some reason, it’s a goal of mine that I reached (as small and simple as it may seem to most of you). I finally got around to taking a few pictures of it so here they are. My beautiful wreath. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Last year around this time I decided to launch my site and really venture into photography. The last year has been a good one, full of new challenges and new beginnings.

If you were here a year ago, you will remember this post and my little house too small to host a Christmas tree. Well, we have plenty of space this year and the girls couldn’t be happier. We finally got a Christmas tree! Now the challenge this year has been keeping the candy canes on the tree and away from the 3 year old. There are only about half of the candy canes left on the tree and empty candy wrapping papers hidden all over the house.

Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas. Happy Thursday!

Life Changes

Tuesday, December 13th, 2011

Last Monday my mom called and expressed concern about my little brother who is 13, she thought there might be something wrong with his health so we made an appointment for him right away to be seen the next day.  Wednesday the results came in and he had to be rushed to the ER immediately, his blood sugar levels were insane!  He finally got to go home yesterday. After almost a week of worry and stress, life will no longer be the same for him, or my parents.  He was diagnosed with diabetes, it looks like it’s most likely type 2 but we won’t know for sure for  another few weeks.

Having a little brother as young as he is is a challenge.  I wish I had more time to spend with him, I wish I lived closer to him, I wish it didn’t take for something like this for me to call him every single day to tell him that I love him.   As a wife and mother life can be hectic within my own family unit, add a feisty teenager to the mix and things get interesting fast. When I went to see him at the hospital I was pleasantly surprised, he was having the time of his life.  Who doesn’t like being catered to all day.  Of course, mom won’t be doing that so I’m sure he’ll begin to miss the hospital staff very soon.  I was impressed at how fast he learned to count his carbs and how much he needs to be consuming along with his insulin shots.   For someone who doesn’t like math he sure caught on quick.  We joked about who really needs this math in real life, well… he does, so now it’s beginning to make sense to him.

I was able to get a few pictures of my little brother to document the day his life changed, but  I was only able to get his approval to post a few.  So here they are, my big baby brother.  I love you with all my heart little man, never forget.

Make your days count, make your love known today for tomorrow is not promised to us. Have a great Tuesday.
