Carlos & Nicki

May 5th, 2014

And it goes a little something like this….

I graduated from high school with Carlos & Nicki. I was new to the school in 11th grade so I didn’t know the history that came with these two until much later. By the time I arrived they were no longer a couple, and they wouldn’t be again for years to come.

Their love affair began at Olive Vista Middle School and it carried into high school. Now this is where things get a little sketchy so I will skip over the next few years and fast forward to now. :) They remained friends over the years and saw each other through relationships that didn’t last. If you believe in true love, then you’ll know that it’s what guided them back into each other’s arms. They will be tying the knot next month.

Their journey might have taken a slight detour but came right back to where it needed to be. Congratulations on your happily ever after.

Gildey & Ivan

October 25th, 2013

I’ve know Ivan since he was a young boy and Gildey since she was a teenager, so when they asked me to photograph their wedding day I was so excited I think I even did a little happy dance. I saw them grow up and was surprised when I found out these sneaky little ones were dating. I saw them go from friends to significant others and their journey was a beautiful one to watch.

I wish you guys the best on your journey together. Remember to always love and respect each other, even through the hardest of times, so that you may come out of the storms stronger… together. I love you guys.

She feels like a teenager

July 29th, 2013

My daughter’s birthday came and went and just now am I getting around to posting about it.  Over the last year she has become this mini lady, wannabe adult and I don’t know if to smile or cry about it.  She loves to make breakfast  and read bedtime stories to her little sister.  She tells me how she feels like such a grown up now that she’s 8 years old!  Where does the time go? It wasn’t too long ago that she was a tiny little baby, helpless, depending on me for every little thing. With every day that passes she needs me less and less and I’m so proud of the lady she’s growing up to be.

This birthday she wanted to go to a baseball game and bowling… I know, weird combo. But that’s what we did. We had a blast and celebrated the way she wanted, surrounded by her family that loves her. May God continue to bless her little life and may she live long enough to watch her own children go to baseball games and bowling.  Goodbye 7… hello 8. Happy birthday, my love!

Manhattan Beach

April 6th, 2013

This past week was my baby brother’s 15th birthday, I still call him my baby brother. Ever since I moved 80 miles away I don’t get to see him very often but of course I had to make the drive to celebrate another year. After we had dinner we decided we wanted to go to the beach to watch the sunset, so off we went to Manhattan Beach. The only thing I miss living out in the desert is being 5-10 minutes away from the beach.

Being able to share a sunset with my little brother and family was nice. It’s these little moments that we make memories of that bring me the most joy. Happy birthday Sebastian! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

One of the things I love about Spring is the way the light begins to shift in the morning. The sun begins to rise from behind the mountains casting the most glorious rays of light across this little road I travel to take my daughter to school. There is a lonely tree in the middle of a field and, when Spring arrives, it takes my breath away every morning. This is one of my favorite pictures I took last week, it captures exactly what I described.

Wishing you a great weekend and a Happy Easter!
